TRIBUTE TO PREVIOUS ARCHITECT-CURATORS ALFONSO JIMÉNEZ AND JAIME NAVARRO IN THE CATHEDRAL

Yesterday evening, the Cathedral’s Royal Chapel hosted a tribute and recognition of the extraordinary work of the two architect-curators of the Cathedral over recent years.

The ceremony was led by the Dean of the Chapter, Francisco José Ortiz Bernal who extolled the tremendous work of both professionals for their service to the Cathedral in the care and maintenance of such a unique building.

Accompanied bya representative from the Chapter, Ortiz Bernal also expressed thanks that their combined efforts led the Cathedral to receive various recognitions both domestically and internationally.

Both were given a copy of the paños de sebka from la Giralda, the work of Sevillian painter Javier Jiménez Sánchez-Dalp.

Alfonso Jiménez was the architect of the Cathedral from 1984 to 2014 and 26th Senior Master, and was succeeded by architectJaime Navarro from 2015 until March of 2024.
