Following the Metropolitan Chapter’s 2024 Internal Training Plan, several days have been organized around the status of the restoration work on the bell tower. This strategic education is meant to impart basic technical knowledge to bring the staff closer to the daily reality of the work on la Giralda, with the goal of resolving visitors’ doubts about ascending the most important symbol of Seville and an icon of Spanish culture.
Following remarks from the Delegate for Pastoral Activities, D. Adrián Ríos, and Chapter Delegate for Administration and Heritage, D. Francisco Román, the architect responsible for the work, D. Eduardo Martínez, described the most notable processes of the work and the techniques used. He was also able to briefly put forward a few conclusions that have already been drawn from the aforementioned investigation, which on the one hand corroborated some hitherto unanswered hypotheses regarding the colors of la Giralda or the plasterwork, which extends much further than originally anticipated.
