Last day, Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, successor to Cardinal Ayuso as prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Holy See, presided over the choral mass at the main altar on the occasion of the first year of the death of the Sevillian Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso.
Subsequently, a response was prayed in the chapel of San José where Ayuso’s remains rest. Family members, members of the Dicastery office and a representation of the Cathedral Chapter participated.
CARDINAL AYUSO
Born on June 17, 1952 in the Heliópolis neighborhood and baptized in the parish of San Bernardo, Monsignor Ayuso was prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue. A Comboni missionary of the Heart of Jesus, he was ordained a priest on September 20, 1980 by Cardinal Bueno Monreal in his parish of Corpus Christi. Pope Francis created him cardinal in the consistory held on October 5, 2019.
