De Profundis’: the tombs of the archbishops of the Cathedral
The Cathedral of Seville houses a remarkable collection of episcopal tombs, a heritage that reflects the importance of the prelates of Seville in the history of the Universal Church.
These tombs are, in themselves, a form of catechesis, as they speak to us of the Christian understanding of death, seen not as an end but as the passage to and beginning of a new life: eternal life.
This guided tour of the Cathedral allows visitors to explore these works of art and architecture, authentic stone manifestations of the hope for eternal life, created to house the recumbent bodies of those awaiting the hour of their resurrection in Christ.
A highlight of the tour is access, for the first time during a cultural visit, to the crypt of the archbishops in the Parish of the Sagrario. The visit will also feature live sacred music performed by Arcadiantiqua, presenting three musical pieces specially selected for the occasion.
