Today, November 14, the Church commemorates Saint Diego of Alcalá, a Franciscan friar of the 15th century, originally from the Sevillian town of San Nicolás del Puerto, canonized for his life of humility and tireless service to the poor and sick. He is the patron saint of the Franciscan lay brothers.
In the Chapel of San Isidoro of the Cathedral of Seville is a magnificent altarpiece made by Bernardo Simón de Pineda, adorned with sculptures, among which stands an image of San Diego de Alcalá.
