This morning, we received the Director of the General Archive of the Indies, Carlos Flores Varela, at the facilities of the Historical Archives of the Archbishop’s Palace of Seville, as well as at the Capitular Colombina and Archiepiscopal Libraries of the Cathedral. During his visit, he was attended by the Canon Archivist and Librarian, José Luis García de la Mata Calvo, and by the technical staff of both centres.
After a tour of the facilities, he was shown, through a small exhibition, various outstanding pieces from the documentary and bibliographic collections held both in the Historical Archives of the Cathedral and the Archbishopric and in the Capitular Colombina Library.
Carlos Flores Varela has expressed his interest in organising, in conjunction also with the Royal Alcázar, exhibitions and visits that promote knowledge of the documentary collections for International Archives Day, which we celebrate annually on 9 June.
