In recent days, due to the effects of storm Leonardo and its strong gusts of wind, erroneous information has been spread on social networks and among visitors that the Seville Cathedral had suspended its cultural visits due to adverse weather. Given this information, we would like to communicate that the temple remains open to the public during its regular hours, with all its cultural visits scheduled as normal.
After the intense gusts of wind that reached more than 70 km/h and caused one of the bronze jars of the Giralda to come loose, the Seville Cathedral Chapter assessed its facilities for safety reasons, maintaining only the cordoned-off areas around the bell tower for perimeter protection. However, this has not affected general access or cultural visits to the interior of the temple and to the Giralda or the Church of El Salvador.
The Cathedral continues to receive both national and international visitors. The daytime visiting hours in the winter season are extensive and open every day. Cultural visits take place between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM from Monday to Saturday, and from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM on Sundays, remaining accessible for tourism and those interested in its artistic and architectural heritage.
In addition to the general visit to the temple, which allows visitors to contemplate masterpieces such as the main altarpiece and the choir, the Cathedral is hosting a temporary exhibition of sacred art this month, “The Faces of Christ”, from the Cathedral Primada of Toledo, which is integrated within the cultural offer accessible to those who come to the monument during their stay in Seville.
The Chapter insists that there is no change in public opening hours due to weather conditions, and encourages those visiting the city to enjoy this historical emblem in its full format, taking advantage of the fact that cultural spaces such as this one remain open even when weather conditions are adverse.
