FEMÀS WILL OFFER A FREE ORGAN CONCERT AT THE CHURCH OF EL SALVADOR THIS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18

The Seville Early Music Festival (FeMÀS), organized by the Seville City Council’s Department of Tourism and Culture, which is approaching half a century of history, celebrates its 43rd edition with a high-level program that definitively consolidates it among the leading European festivals dedicated to early music.

Within this edition, the festival commemorates three important milestones for European musical heritage. Among them is the four-hundredth anniversary of the publication of Facultad Orgánica by Francisco Correa de Arauxo, one of the fundamental landmarks of Iberian keyboard literature.

To mark this celebration, Maestro Andrés Cea Galán will offer a free organ recital on Wednesday, March 18, at 9:00 PM at the Church of El Salvador in Seville. The concert will allow the audience to enjoy the sonic richness of the temple’s historic organ through works linked to the Iberian organ tradition.

Invitations can be collected at the Church of El Salvador until full capacity is reached; therefore, interested members of the public are recommended to arrive in advance.

In addition to this recital, the commemoration of Correa de Arauxo’s legacy will include a harpsichord concert by Miguel Jalôto, as well as a series of prelude-concerts performed by the young Sevillian organist Guido García in the churches of San Luis and Santa Clara, where their historic organs will be showcased with works by the composer himself.

The FeMÀS 2026 program also pays tribute to the fourth centenary of the death of John Dowland, an essential figure of the Elizabethan repertoire, with notable performances such as those by the ensemble Fretwork alongside tenor Ian Bostridge, as well as the group Odd Size with Per Buhre.

With this edition, the Seville Early Music Festival reaffirms its commitment to the dissemination of historical musical heritage and artistic excellence, establishing itself as an essential event on the European cultural scene.
